Cincinnati Public Library Mobile Branch

mobility design + DEsign research

the problem.

the project.

the team.

For the past hundreds of years, and likely for many more, there will be underserved children living in under-resourced neighborhoods in Cincinnati. At times, even access to a public library isn't feasible. How might we bring a library experience to these children so they aren't deprived from the joy and enrichment that the library exists to provide?

This is my current mobility studio project. Our solutions are designed for Cincinnati in the year 2035. Our vehicles should be autonomous, and should only be one component of a bigger, more impactful system that we can design for our communities.

This is an individual project within my studio. However, I would not be able to do it without guidance from my professors and feedback from my peers.

How might we design an autonomous mobile library branch for marginalized children living in Cincinnati in 2035?

educational
joy-filled
accessible
Design an experience that helps children develop the skills they need to be successful in school and in life.
Just as a child gets excited to see the ice cream truck approaching, I hope to design a novel experience of equal delight
Provide an experience for kids who aren’t able to access their local libraries - whether due to transportation, family, education, or poverty.
